Research the questions with your audience
- Make them actual Frequently Asked Questions and not just a repository for information you cannot fit anywhere else
Create a clear list of questions at the top of the page and organise the list logically
- Order according to priority (and frequency of the query) but also logically (that is, basic information first before the complex information)
- Group questions together (particularly if there are more than 20 questions), for example:
- Group by popularity (such as the top 10 asked questions)
- Group by topic
If there are only a few questions, list all questions and their answers on the same page
- Maintain the order that was established in the list of questions at the top
- Repeat the question right next to the answer
- Structure and style so the question is clearly differentiated from the answer
- For long pages, consider using a ‘back to top’ link
Link to the FAQ page from all pages
- Apart from the FAQ page itself
Number the questions if the order that makes logical sense – otherwise just list
